Damn Phil, you got 11 rings as a coach, do you really have to sound like a hater now? Phil Jackson coached in the NBA finals 13 times, winning 11 of those times. It seems though that 9 years later, that one of those losses, which was to the Detroit Pistons is still eating at him. See what he said after the jump.

Is Phil Jackson a sore loser? He got so used to winning all the time with Jordan and then with Shaq & Kobe that when he does lose, it seems to stick with him forever. 9 years after losing to the Pistons in the finals when they beat the Lakers 4-1, Phil has an opinion on why that happened. He claims they “flopped” their way to the championship, mainly involving Shaq. As per the Detroit News

“Larry Brown taught guys to go down (flop) on Shaq and that’s one of the reasons they won in ’04,” Jackson said. “He had the center, (Ben) Wallace as the David in that matchup and those plays were called as charges. Shaq would put a shoulder into you and test how close he could get to the basket”.

Your better than that Phil. Truth be told, anyone who remembers that series knows the Pistons with Chauncey Billups, Ben Wallace & others could of actually swept the Lakers if not for a late shot by Kobe in game 2. Even if you want to say the Pistons were flopping, they completely outplayed and outworked the Lakers in all 5 games. You win some and you lose some Phil, don’t cry now about it. Give credit.
