Bells rang at St. Rose of Lima Church to honor the victims of the Sandy Hook School shooting in Newtown, Ct. The church bells rang 26 times, as each victim’s name was read over a loud speaker. St. Rose of Lima Church, was one of several houses of worship that conducted private ceremonies, for the survivors of the 20 children and 6 educators killed at Sandy Hook. To read more, click below.
Newtown asked for privacy on their anniversary, posting “no media” signs around the town. President Obama and First Lady, Michelle, lit 26 candles to remember the victims, in the Map Room of the White House. Obama made a radio address, stating:
“We have to do more to keep dangerous people from getting their hands on a gun so easily. We have to do more to heal troubled minds. We have to do everything we can to protect our children from harm and make them feel loved, and valued, and cared for.”
Unfortunately the anniversary of the Sandy Hook School massacre also occurred on the day of another school shooting in Colorado.
