Well, J. Lo can’t be the only lady on the chopping block for performing for a categorized, dictator. Angolan Red Cross threw a gala, where they paid Mariah Carey $1MiL to perform.
Now, due to the fact that Angola’s President, José Eduardo dos Santos daughter, Isabel dos Santos owns the mobile phone company that sponsored the event, the Human Rights Foundations has many words for the, “We Belong Together” diva.
“Just five years ago she performed for the family of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi. Now, she goes from private performances to public displays of support and credibility for one of Africa’s chief human rights violators and most corrupt tyrants. It is the sad spectacle of an international artist purchased by a ruthless police state to entertain and whitewash the father-daughter kleptocracy that has amassed billions in ill-gotten wealth while the majority of Angola lives on less than $2 a day,” said Human Rights Foundation president, Thor Halvorssen.
What do you expect? These people perform for a living, and most likely will never be under the circumstances of an Angolan resident.
