Amid reports of a rift between Kevin Love and LeBron James, Love admitted that he and James aren’t best friends.  James explained that Love was right, that they weren’t best friends, but pointed out he only has three close friends in the entire league.

“People get so infatuated with the best of friends, things of that nature,” James said. “First of all, I’ve got three very good friends in this league, and that’s Carmelo (Anthony), and that’s C.P. (Chris Paul), and that’s D-Wade. And after that I have a bunch of teammates. I have guys I ride for every day.

“But Kyrie is a guy I understand how important he is to this team, how important he is. And the same with Kev as well.”

Oddly enough the league has been criticized for the players being too buddy-buddy and not bitter rivals like the 80’s and 90’s; now which guys aren’t good friends is a big story.  Obviously this situation is a little different since Love and James are teammates and need to get along for the sake of the Cavaliers, but they don’t have to be best friends to have a productive team.  The only issue is, will Kevin Love re-sign with the Cavaliers?  It would be a devastating blow if he didn’t considering the Cavs gave up No. 1 draft pick Andrew Wiggins to get him.
