Paul Pierce has been talking ALOT lately about NBA players and teams. In a recent interview with ESPN, Pierce went in on former Nets teammates Deron Williams & Joe Johnson. He also questioned how bad his fellow Wizards teammates want to be great and he took some shots at the Toronto Raptors, who just so happen to be the Wizards first round playoff opponent. Word got back to the Raptors about what Pierce was saying and Amir Johnson had an unlikely comparison with Pierce & Viagra.

@IamJoeSports

“We haven’t done particularly well against Toronto, but I don’t feel they have the ‘It’ that makes you worried. There isn’t a team I look at in the Eastern Conference that makes me say, ‘They are intimidating, we don’t have a chance.’” This is coming from Paul Pierce who made that comment while speaking with Jackie MacMullan in an ESPN.com interview published earlier this week.

Amir Johnson threw some shots of his own, but in a more entertaining way.

“To me personally, I think that’s just to get Paul Pierce going, you know? Older guy, a vet, you know, he needs to get himself going and I think that’s what those comments are for. It’s just like, you know, when you use Viagra, you know, how do you get yourself going?”

As funny as it sounds that is actually a pretty good comparison. Pierce obviously can’t bring it on a nightly basis anymore so he has to find ways to psych himself up and this is how he does it.

Sadly for him, the Raptors will likely win this series, although if you asked me the same question a few months ago it would have been the Wizards. They just lost some desire down the stretch and you never want to head into the playoffs in somewhat of a spiral.
