Tidal’s music streaming service has been the hot topic of discussion since it’s debut last month. After letting go of a majority of their staff and creating new positions, it seems as though the Tidal team is trying to clean up their inaugural tracks in order to solidify their future. Senior executive Vania Schlogel recently sat down with All Hip Hop’s editor-in-chief Chuck Creekmur to discuss their new strategy to succeed in the fairly new marketplace.

“In order for us to succeed, we don’t need to steal subscribers from other platforms,” said Schlogel. “I think what makes us unique is the fact this is artist owned, so it’s a different type of involvement.”

Schlogel also discussed their plans to help highlight independent artists on Tidal. She also explained how they will be creating a space for artists and fans to connect and how they plan to remain competitive against other streaming options. While their new strategies sound promising, artists like Kanye West already seem like they’re trying to pull out of their endorsement. Does Tidal have a chance at a profitable future? Tat Wza isn’t so sure but watch the interview in full below and decide for yourself.
