News that Max B would be coming home sooner than later was first announced by Wiz Khalifa on Friday, who has always been a champion of Max and names him as one of his biggest inspirations. (He’s also who publicly called out Kanye West when he was trying to name his album Waves.)

Taking to Twitter, Wiz wrote, “Max B is coming home. Sentence got shortened. Looks like the Gang will be working wit the Wave.” Max B was sentenced in 2009 after being convicted in 2006 for a botched robbery at a hotel in New Jersey, and received 75 years. He has served seven years thus far at the New Jersey State Prison.

Further confirmation soon came (as though he’s awesome, Wiz isn’t exactly the most credible news source for all things Max B,) when Max’s close friend and frequent collaborator French Montana shared a text confirming that Max had gotten his sentence shortened. The information provided said that he can be home in as early as two years, or six years at the max. A statement was then released from Max‘s team, thanking his new lawyers, the judge on the case and more.

NorthJersey.com then provided an official report, revealing that a Superior Court judge determined there was a conflict of interest on the part of one of Max‘s former defense attorneys (Gerald Saluti – longtime fans might remember him) and reduced his sentence to 20 years. With time served that would put Max home in 2022, which isn’t exactly on par with French‘s texts. However, good behavior will come into play there as well!

It’s crazy how 7 years feels like maybe 2 or 3 at the most. Social media has helped to keep Max extremely relevant in the current times, and I think he will have no problem adjusting and reclaiming his place in hip-hop upon his release. Check out the tweets and posts in the gallery!
