New Estimate Of How Much Hurricane Sandy Damage Will Cost New Jersey

Governor Chris Christie has announced the new estimate of how much Hurricane Sandy damage will be costing the state of New Jersey. According to the preliminary analysis released by Christie’s office on Friday, the storm’s damage and cost of rebuilding will cost over $29.4 billion. Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced that he plans on asking he federal government for $30 billion in disaster aid for the state. Both the New Jersey and New York estimates will change in the future based on tourist seasons and real estate values. Read more below. Julie A.

Cory Booker Says Hurricane Sandy Delayed Him From Making A Huge Decision

Newark Mayor Cory Booker, who is probably the greatest mayor in Newark history, stated that Hurricane Sandy delayed him from making the huge decision of running for governor of New Jersey in the 2013 election. Booker has been working hand-in-hand with current Republican governor, Chris Christie, in the state’s time of need but Booker knows that he has to make the hard decision fast. Although Governor Christie has done a great job since the storm hit, he hasn’t been the greatest governor for New Jersey in the past four years and I personally think it’s time for a change and believe Cory Booker can and will be that change. Eight NJ Companies Sued For Post-Sandy Price Gouging

Eight companies in New Jersey have been sued by the state for price gouging in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Governor Chris Christie made it illegal to raise prices after the natural disaster hit the state and urged customers to take pictures and provide the state with information on any business that had raised prices after the hurricane. Now the state has found eight companies that are disgustingly trying to take advantage of people in a time of need by raising their prices above the norm. Seven gas stations and one motel are being sued thus far, but the state has received 2,000 complaints of price gouging and has issued 170 subpoenas for business records. Read more below. Julie A.


New Jersey, You Can Vote From Home !

Although we are still suffering post-storm , the vote must go on! According to Gov. Christie, NJ residents can actually vote by e-mail or fax.  This is in order to help voting places during these times.  New Jersey is also using military trucks in place of the voting places that have been damaged by the storm. Governor Chris Christie Addresses Hurricane Sandy Preparations In NJ

Governor Chris Christie just addressed the State of New Jersey to talk about the steps he has taken in preparation for Hurricane Sandy. Christie said that he has spoken to President Obama personally in-regards to FEMA and other emergency relief services. Hurricane Sandy is expected to touch down on land somewhere between Atlantic City and Toms River causing NJ to probably face the most damage on the East Coast.
