Funk Flex Tribute Mix To Prodigy Of Mobb Deep

Damn, Prodigy’s Prison Cookbook Has Been BANNED From Cali Jails!

Earlier this fall, Mobb Deep’s Prodigy released a cookbook filled with easy recipes he learned to make while incarcerated – something helpful not only to current inmates but also college kids with little resources in their dorm and even every day folks who just aren’t into cooking like that! Unfortunately, the entire state of California does not see it as such, and has banned Kitchen Commissary from all prisons in the state. Taking to Instagram, P revealed a letter from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, where they explained their reasoning for the ban was because of the book’s recipe for liquor, known as “hooch” behind bars. presents their reasoning behind the ban, stating “The publication contains information and instructions on how to produce inmate manufactured alcohol,” which, of course, doesn’t fly.

Prodigy Will Get Paid 6 Figures From Record Label If He Tweets This….

One half of Mobb Deep, Prodigy, and Universal Music Group have been going at it over royalty disputes as of late. Prodigy claimed the record label has not him paid what he’s been owed, so he sued for back royalties, accusing the label of skimming revenue from his solo work. But finally, they have reached a settlement and Prod will be getting over $150K as long as he tweets this specific message. Hit the jump.

Prodigy of Mobb Deep Announces Cookbook & Follow-Up Memoir

Mobb Deep rapper Prodigy announced today the release of two books in 2016. Writer, author and all-around badass (because she’s awesome and also happens to be my mentor), Kathy Iandoli, will be collaborating with him to help write them. Commissary Kitchen will be part cookbook, part anecdotal storybook, and it will detail Prodigy’s prison experience through his meals. Some of the recipes will be classic prison offerings, while others will serve as the catalyst for greater stories throughout his three years prison term. In The State vs Albert “Prodigy” Johnson, the rapper will chronicle the overall prison experience, the challenges of life after prison and the effects that the prison term has had on his personal life and career. Prodigy and Iandoli will also dissect the dichotomy of what happens when a public figure enters and exits the prison system. The two books are slated for release in the second half of 2016.

Mobb Deep’s Label Is Robbing One Of Its Members Of 50% Of His Solo Royalties

A 1995 deal with Universal Music, formerly BMG, has Mobb Deep’s Prodigy filing court papers as he is owed almost $60K in royalties. The “Power Rap” rapper says that the label is snatching 50% of his solo royalties from projects outside of the group. Find out more after the jump.
