Isaiah Theis, 2, went missing on Tuesday night. Over 2,450 volunteers helped search for the young toddler. He was later found dead inside of a trunk of a nearby car late Wednesday.
Investigators are saying it’s too early to come to conclusions for how Isaiah Theis ended up in the trunk of a Chevy Impala. Isaiah apparently wandered from his home Tuesday night. He was then found dead late Wednesday inside the locked trunk of the Chevy Impala. The Impala was one of three cars on the property where Isaiah lived. The cars are owned by customers of Isaiah’s father, who works from home.
Polk County Chief Deputy Steve Moe said, “the car was there during the entire search, and I was quite surprised to learn there in fact had been access to the vehicle.”
The car’s owner arrived with a key to remove the vehicle about 10 p.m. Wednesday. It was then that a sheriff’s deputy opened the trunk and found the boy’s body.
Moe also said, he wished searchers had forced open the car.
The small town of Wisconsin mourns after the tragic loss of Isaiah Theis.
