The general search hasn’t changed but the extra tweaks here and there definitely make a difference. Search results are now equipped with tabs for matching photos and users making it easier to keep up with friends and celeb gossip. The company would give users local news based on their location to try to get people more educated and involved within their communities. The feature is still in the process of being put together, as of right now there is not official word as to when it will be available on Google Now.
