Back in the 90’s, Pedro Zamora broke ground on television, being totally open about his sexuality on MTV’s relatively-new show, The Real World. He famously dated Sean Sasser, before passing from an AIDS-related illness in 1994. Sadly, almost 20 years later, Sean has passed as well. At the ripe young age of 44, he has lost his battle with lung cancer. RIP!
New Pill May Prevent HIV In Drug Users Who Inject
We are one step closer to a real cure for HIV/AIDS. A new study conducted in Thailand shows that Tenofovir cut the risk of infection in heroin, meth and other injection drug users by nearly 50%. Based on the findings, the CDC recommended that doctors consider prescribing Tenofovir to those who inject drugs. It blocks the virus from making copies and spreading through the body. In the U.S., Tenofovir is included in an AIDS drug called Truvada…which costs about $14k a year. We still have a ways to go, but breakthroughs like this definitely give us hope!
Could A Cure For HIV Finally Be Here? Scientists Say It’s “Months Away”!
This is HUGE! According to Danish scientists, an HIV cure that’s actually affordable is on the horizon…possibly arriving within the next few months! Human testing for the treatment is currently underway, after already proving successful in laboratory tests. 15 people are involved in the trial, with results expected in the second half of 2013.

A teacher in Norway was coming back from the doctor when she asked the nurse to take a vial of her blood to go. When she got to her class, she poured it on a plate for the children to see.
