Auto: Hyundai Has To Recall 20,000 Cars Because Of Shattering Glass??

This is bad for Hyundai. Not that it is going to cripple the brand or anything like that, but at a time when Hyundai is definitely on the come up in the U.S. they want to stay far away from bad news like this. The car maker has to recall about 20,000 vehicles, mainly the “Veloster” hatchbacks, because there have been multiple cases of the panoramic sunroof literally shattering while the car is driving! Picture that, you are driving, doing nothing wrong, and out of nowhere you have glass falling on your head and possibly into your eyes, or those of your passengers. Think how many car accidents that might cause. The recall covers cars made between July 4, 2011 through October 31, 2012. Obviously the fixes will be free to customers who take their car to a dealership, but still this is a pretty scary issue if it was not caught.

Auto: Say What?? Does the “B” In BMW Stand For Bad?

Dam BMW? It’s like that? I’ve seen recalls for cars before, but rarely ever do you see them from a luxury brand, especially for the amount of cars being recalled. BMW announced today that they need to recall almost 600,000 vehicles!!! That includes the most popular BMW car, the 3 series. The reason? Electrical issues are common recalls for European cars. This one is about faulty battery connectors that can cause the car to stall. Stalling out may not sound like the worst thing, but picture this. Picture you driving a beamer and you go to make a turn at an intersection thinking you have plenty of time to turn before the oncoming traffic gets close. But as you turn your car stalls and that traffic doesn’t stop in time….BOOM!! Yes, exactly! Read more after the jump.

Auto: Bad News For Chrysler..Recalling Almost 300,000 Vehicles!!

Chrysler announced today that they are recalling almost 300,000 SUV’s and Trucks. The actual number is 278,222, which is a very high number for a recall. The reason for this is bad rear axles that may not have a adhesive patch that could cause a nut on the axle to loosen. If this happens, it would cause the rear axle to lock up, which would lead to countless accidents and most likely death in some cases because the driver would lose complete control of the car. The suv’s and trucks that are part of the recall are the Dodge Ram 1500 from 2009-2012, Dodge Dakotas from 2009-2011 and the Chrysler Aspen & Dodge Durango, both from 2009. The recall is effective March 1st, when customers can take the vehicles to dealerships and have everything repaired correctly. I hope all of the owners of these vehicles get the notice.

Auto: GM Recalls Almost 9,000 Cars

GM announced today that they must recall almost 9,000 cars due to a rear suspension issue. The recall at the moment is mainly limited to the Malibu, but an investigation is going on to see if other models were impacted. What happens is some of the bolts on the rear suspension may not of had sufficient torque applied to them. What can happen is the cars gets out of assembly enough to just cause noises, or bad enough to actually lose complete control of the car. Scary! The recall is ongoing now, and we will have more info in the coming days if any other models were impacted as well.

Auto: GM Forced To Recall 70,000 Trucks & Suv’s

More bad news for GM. The just found out they might owe as much as $1 Billion dollars to creditors due to some issues from when the company accepted a government bailout and was restructured in 2009. Now they are forced to recall almost 70,000 trucks and suv’s including the Escalade, Tahoe and others. The reason for the recall? You may walk out of your house and see your truck rolling away down the street. Turns out some of these vehicles may of been built with a cracked park lock cable or a malformed steering column lock actuator gear. In these cases, the car could shift from park without the key being in the ignition or even without the pedals being touched. Hit the link after the jump for more. IamJOE357
