He faced a massive backlash after making making nasty slurs against special needs children on the internet.
And now 50 Cent has made a public apology for making fun of autism on his Twitter page.
The rapper took to Twitter in an attempt to make amends, insisting he had been thoughtless instead of malicious.
He wrote: ‘I realise my autism comments were insensitive, however it was not my intention to offend anyone and for this I apologise.’
The Grammy-winning star was the subject of an open letter from actress Holly Robinson Peete, whose son Rodney suffers from the condition.
She spoke out after retweeted a comment from a fan, in addition to his own message: ‘yeah just saw your picture fool you look autistic RT @yung_raditz @50cent Release the album or get shot again.’
He then followed this up with a second tweet, in which the 36-year-old said: ‘i dont want no special ed kids on my time line follow some body else.’ But the Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ star attempted to make light of the situation, adding: ‘just kidding about da special ed kids man, i was in special ed day said i had anger issues lol’.
21 Jump Street actress and mother-of-four Holly said her heart ‘sank’ when she read the ‘disappointing’ tweet.
She told Autism File magazine: ‘When I read (the tweet) it my heart sank. I thought maybe your account had been hacked. No such luck.’
‘You went on to joke about not wanting “special ed kids” on your timeline. Seriously, THIS is how you use your platform of 8 million plus followers??’
As the letter was released, he continued to backtrack, even retweeting a message from a fan who posted a snapshot of her autistic son.
She wrote: ‘@50cent This is what Autism looks like in my son Torren’.
