Jason Terry made it quite clear that he wasn’t impressed with the Miami Heat’s win streak which is now at 25 consecutive games. The Boston Celtics had a chance to break the streak but instead gave up a big lead and Terry was on the receiving end of a Lebron poster that no one will ever forget. Still a true competitor, that hasn’t stopped Terry from firing off at the mouth. Read more after the jump.
Terry’s beef with the Miami didn’t just begin when he joined the Celtics, the Heat’s Eastern Conference rival; it began when he was on the Mavericks and faced the Heat in the NBA Finals. Now that he is a member of the Celtics and there’s yet another possibility of facing the Heat in the playoffs, he has all the more reason to continue his hatred.
Terry said his issue is more with the Heat than LeBron. Terry’s Mavericks lost to the Heat in the 2006 NBA finals and got revenge in the 2011 rematch.
“It’s just the Miami Heat,” Terry said. “Is it the red and black? Maybe. I hate that color. I just don’t like them. … It goes back to ’05-06. It doesn’t matter who’s in those Miami Heat uniforms. … [The Mavericks were] up 2-0 and [the Heat] come back and win four straight games and you lose the NBA finals. So, LeBron inherited something bigger than the matchup of he and I. It’s about the Miami Heat and that organization. He picked his poison.
“They put him on me to shut me down in the NBA finals in 2011 and he couldn’t get the job done. Hopefully he’ll have another chance this year in the Eastern Conference finals or wherever we match up. But I’m telling you right now, I love us, I love the way we’re built. We miss Rondo, we miss [Jared] Sullinger, but with this team we have, we have a chance.”
To be quite honest, I don’t see any team in the Eastern Conference that’ll be able to beat the Heat in the playoffs this year. I do however have to give major props to the Boston Celtics because everyone thought they were finished once Rajon Rondo went out for the season with an ACL tear. They instead persevered through the injuries and beat many teams people thought they couldn’t. While Terry’s comments may come off as brash and you may think he has no right to talk after what Lebron did to him, I like his old school rivalry spirit.
Jason Terry is delusional. He actually thinks he’s a great player.
