This is one of those tough topics in sports. When someone asks a player do they think they are the best, if they are competitive enough it will be hard for them to say the name of an opposing player over their own. Sometimes though athletes have to be realistic and understand either their time has passed or just flat out their is someone better. D-Wade fell into the trap and while there is nothing wrong with saying he is the best SG in the NBA, many, many people, including myself would disagree quick!

It is very hard to imagine Wade as still being the best two-guard in the game, but obviously to him it is not so far fetched. Despite his body already seemingly giving out on him, and the fact he is getting up there in age in the basketball world, Wade still truly believes he is the best:

When Wade is physically right, are any better?

“No,” Wade said. “When I’m right, there are players at my position that are probably more athletic than me. There are players at my position that can probably shoot threes better than me. That can do individual things. But when I’m right, overall, just like I’ve been the last few years, I mean, I can be a dynamic player. It’s unfortunate that, consistently, that last couple years, I haven’t been able to be that. But I’m not going to stop working to get there. I’m going to put all my efforts towards doing it. Because the moments where I feel, ‘Oh, it feels so right,’ it feels so good.”

James Harden is the first name that comes to mind as someone who is better than Wade at his position, even though Harden’s defense is a joke. Most people honestly would likely still pick Kobe over Wade at the SG spot as well. A case can definitely be made for Wade, but if we are being honest there is just no way he is still the best but you damn sure can’t blame him for believing it.
