IFWT_Melo Lebron Kobe 1

Sports writers sure know how to beat a dead horse and apparently they’re still asking Kobe Bryant about Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James not signing with the Los Angeles Lakers this past offseason during free agency.  Bryant, especially lately, isn’t one to hold his tongue and gave an answer that will hopefully get them to stop asking Kobe on LeBron and Carmelo.

The Lakers chased LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony this summer – reportedly even delaying their coaching search to appease the free agents. But after those failed pursuits, Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak called his team’s chances of signing either play unrealistic.

Since, a compelling case has emerged Kobe’s presence dissuades players from joining the Lakers. Kobe – who flew back to Los Angeles for Melo’s visit – has shrugged off those concerns, but he’s addressing them more directly now.

Kobe on LeBron and Carmelo, via Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

“Facts are, ‘Melo stayed in New York, partly because it was a great financial decision,” Bryant told Yahoo. “LeBron going home speaks for itself.

“What the hell do you want me to do?”

Bryant shrugged and smiled. “Helps the click-thrus, though.”

The story really is click bait and everyone knows it.  Yea maybe some superstars don’t want to team up with Kobe Bryant but in the case of LeBron and Melo it was pretty clear that neither one of them was really going to go to the Lakers.  Carmelo chose money with the Knicks but his other option was teaming up with Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah on the Chicago Bulls, the Lakers really weren’t in the picture.  As for LeBron, his choices were continuing the Big 3 with the Miami Heat or going back home to the Cavaliers where he’s formed a new Big 3 with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, the Lakers weren’t one of his viable choices either. Period, point blank, end of story…
