FOX’s hit show may have broken television records, had number-one music on iTunes, scored memorable guest appearances and stacked up moment after talked about moment, but that doesn’t mean everyone’s on the bandwagon. Shad Moss aka Bow Wow Says Empire Stereotypes Black People and talks why he’s not a part!
The season finale of Empire still has people talking, but not everyone’s saying the same things. Vibe and Global 14 report Shad Moss aka Bow Wow Says Empire Stereotypes Black People in an interview explaining he doesn’t want to be part of a show playing black people doing the same predictable things. He has a #valid perspective at the least, adding to his comments on why he’s been MIA from the rap game by saying:
“When we were still filming Cyber episodes, Empire‘s first episode premiered,” he said. “Fans were saying, ‘Man, you should have been on the show.’ But we all don’t rap or play basketball. We can do so many things. There are young African-Americans who are intelligent enough to work at the FBI. That’s what’s so bright. Hopefully, I can help start a new wave of young black actors who don’t want to stereotype themselves.“
Now you might think on ‘the irony’ of Shad Moss aka Bow Wow Says Empire Stereotypes Black People, when he’s spent a lot of years working for BET aka Black Entertainment Television–a network some argue is a hub for stereotypes. But in contrast (or maybe this just reinforced the point) the Vice President of Programming at BET and legendary black executive Stephen Hill has in fact stated publicly he respects but is “jealous” of the show and wishes it were on BET.
The points on this are conflicted all over the entertainment industry–Empire itself has been on a mission to push boundaries though its seen as status quo to some, and on the way are notables like Common and Oprah. Earlier this week stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard disagreed on using the N-word on the show–a move which director Lee Daniels still isn’t sure about. Obviously 50 Cent hasn’t been pleased all along, but for his own reasons. Shad’s Uncle Snoop is also toeing the line: being Empire’s finale guest but just announcing production of a new show with HBO.
Does Shad Moss aka Bow Wow Says Empire Stereotypes Black People have a point or is the point aimless? Is he just saying what a lot of people won’t say? If Empire was on BET instead of a major mainstream network, would more people say it was pushing stereotypes???

U want new actors try me, now what?
Its interesting that Shad Moss character on CSI is only working for the FBI because he is a criminal. Im not really sure that he should have anything to on the matter. Im actually more annoyed about that stereotype than I am about anything on Empire.
Idiot,if he watched it there’s more than just rappers and singers on the show black people held just about every level in the company proving that we can be anything we want
Don’t be mad Bow Wow your turn will come
For years we’ve been watching All My Children, General Hospital, Dukes of Hazzard, Beverly Hillbillies etc. No one screamed about sterotypes and all these went in to be very successful. It’s only TV and acting people. Stop taking entertainment so seriously and concentrate more on police brutality! Remer you DON’T HAVE TO WATCH. There are choices.
