Dennis Rodman has a weird but close relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and has tried what he calls “basketball diplomacy” between the two nations. Included in those efforts is an exhibition basketball game for Kim’s birthday and now we know who Rodman’s players will be.
Dennis Rodman has struck up quite the friendship with Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea. It is definitely an odd friendship, but still one nonetheless. However, if human rights activist named Shin Dong-hyuk, a former resident of a prison camp in North Korea who was lucky enough to escape has his way, he hopes Rodman will reconsider. He sent him a very detailed letter about how the Un family is and its pretty chilling. Hit the jump.
Merrill Newman, 85, held in North Korea since October, tells reporters he’s happy to be home, but tired. Newman was held for alleged hostile acts. Ironically, Newman is a war veteran. Before he boarded a plane back to San Francisco, he had a discussion with Vice President Joe Biden. Check out there discussion after the jump.
U.S. veteran, Merrill Newman, was finally released and deported from North Korea. The 85 year old was detained for over a month for allegedly committing hostile acts during the Korean War. North Korean media stated that he was released because he apologized for his crimes and also because of his age/medical condition.
