I guess it isn’t too surprising that Dylan Roof, the mass murderer of the #Charleston9, pleaded not guilty to the federal hate crime charges that he is facing. Reports are indicating that Roof and his lawyer are waiting to see if the death penalty is going to be an option.

A Baltimore prosecutor announced criminal charges against six police officers for their transgressions causing the death of Freddie Gray. The state’s attorney for Baltimore Marilyn Mosby comes from five generations of police officers and was recently sworn in as state’s attorney. As she campaigned, Ms. Mosby broached the topic of police brutality while expressing her displeasure for excessive force. The attorney said, “police brutality is completely inexcusable. I’m going to apply justice fairly, even to those who wear a badge”. It’s going to be a painstaking task for the police union to defend Baltimore police.
