(Photo) iLoveMakonnen Announces That He’s Retiring

Seems like iLoveMakonnen is none too happy with his music career right now, and is reportedly going to leave the industry for good. However, this is the same guy who openly admits he’s on various drugs often, so this could simply be empty threats and/or high tweets. “If I could release music how I wanted I wouldn’t retire, but then if did that, so many would have to to just retire, so ill accept retire,” Makonnen – who recently left Drake’s label – tweeted over the weekend. He went on to say that he can’t deal with all of the fake in the music industry, but he did promise there will be a little more on the horizon from him, as he still has to fulfill some contractual obligations he’d previously committed to.

iLoveMakonnen Speaks On Drake “Diss”

Last week, it was confirmed that iLoveMakonnen was no longer signed to Drake‘s OVO Sound label. At press time, the “Tuesday” singer released a statement thanking Drake and the whole crew for everything they’d done for him, assuring that there was nothing but love in the decision to separate. It didn’t appear to be that way over the weekend, however. “What’s the name of that dumb ass album with the sky sh*t?” Makonnen said on Snapchat on Sunday, referring to Drake’s Nothing Was The Same. He then answered a fan’s question about leaving the label:

“Why’d you leave OVO because I was underweight now, when I was overweight they was f*cking with me, that’s what OVO stands for Overweight only.”

iLoveMakonnen Speaks On Split From OVO Sound

Yesterday, a rep for iLoveMakonnen confirmed the rumors that the singer was no longer with Drake‘s OVO Sound imprint. Many were speculating about what could have happened, and figured it was likely a less-than-amicable split. According to Makonnen, however, it’s all love.

iLoveMakonnen Is No Longer Signed To OVO Sound

Confirming rumors that have been floating around for some time now, a rep for iLoveMakonnen has revealed that he is no longer a part of Drake’s OVO Sound label. The September 2014 signing seemed off from the start, as Makonnen didn’t really seem to make much sense with the Toronto-based label, and it only seemed more off as time wore on and we rarely saw Drake and Makonnen together. It was last month that really sparked people’s desire to get to the bottom of things, however. Makonnen was noticeably absent from the OVO Sound showcase at SXSW – the same week he’d dropped a new album, which would make it the ample time to perform at such a show. Oh, and the label credited on the project? Only Warner Bros. Records Inc., where as his last two releases listed both Warner and OVO Sound. Sure enough, a rep has confirmed to Inverse that Makonnen is no longer with the label that Drizzy built.

OVO’s dvsn Releases Debut Album A Week Early

On Saturday evening, OVO‘s latest act took over their Beats 1 Radio show, and then hit fans with a surprise – their debut album was made available a week before its previously-announced release date. There’s still on confirmation on exactly who IS dvsn, though we do know OVO producer Nineteen85 is involved on the beat-making side of things.
