On the red carpet for the Grammy awards last weekend (where he was nominated with his breakout song “Tuesday” for Best Rap Sung Collaboration,) iLoveMakonnen revealed to MTV some details about his forthcoming debut album. The OVO Sound signee said that Drake, Diplo, Skrillex, Snoop Dogg and even possibly Rihanna will all appear on the project, which is expected to drop in June or July. Drake signed iLoveMakonnen to his OVO Sound imprint back in September, following the success of his breakout hit “Tuesday,” (which Drizzy helped fuel by hopping on for the remix.) Now that Makonnen has a name for himself, a record deal and even a Grammy nod for the song, a few things from the past are coming to light…like his disdain for the very man who has helped to make him who he is today! If you’ll recall, a bunch of rappers’ old before-the-fame tweets were exposed a while back, and in the latest batch, iLoveMakonnen becomes the newest victim. His earlier tweets from 2010/2011 are coming at Drizzy’s softness, but thankfully, he eventually cleaned it up in more recent years, explaining that he likes Drizzy, just not the die-hard fans that over-hype him and are ready to kill for him. Drake Signs “Tuesday” Singer iLoveMakonnen To OVO Sound
After remixing his track “Tuesday,” Drake has signed singer/rapper iLoveMakonnen to his OVO Sound imprint. Before coming out as a surprise on Drake’s set during the ‘Drake vs. Lil Wayne’ tour stop in Atlanta on Sunday night (where he resides, by way of L.A.), the singer alluded to the signing with a picture of “Tuesday” on iTunes, where it listed the song’s label as OVO Sound/Warner Bros. Records Inc. He later confirmed the signing with a tweet of the OVO Sound logo. iLoveMakonnen joins a roster that includes fellow artists Majid Jordan, OB O’Brien and PartyNextDoor, and producers Boi-1da, Mike Zombie, Nineteen85, Noah “40″ Shebib and T-Minus.
